The Danish Business Outlook on China (DBOC) has been released
The first half of 2026 marks the strongest DBOC reading since 2023, with the aggregated index rising to 54.97, up from 51.40 in Q4 2025.
The result reflects a broad-based improvement in sentiment across all four dimensions measured by the index – Sales, Manufacturing/Production/Services, Procurement/Supplies, and Research & Development – indicating strengthening confidence among Danish companies with activities in China.
China’s role as a global innovation hub
One particularly noteworthy finding from this edition is the perception of innovation: more than half of respondents (51 pct.) view Chinese companies as more innovative than Danish companies, while nearly 39 pct. consider them equally innovative. Together, these results highlight the increasing recognition of China’s role as a global innovation hub.
The upward trend is reflected across both China-based and Denmark-based companies, as well as among SMEs and larger firms.
The DBOC Index, established in 2021, tracks changes in the short-term sentiment of Danish companies engaged in China and aims to provide actionable business intelligence for businesses, policymakers and stakeholders interested in Denmark–China commercial relations.
The Index is a joint initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing, DCCC - Danish Chamber of Commerce in China, Danish-Chinese Business Forum and Sino-Danish Center For Education And Research.
