John Renner Hansen joins the Danish Board of SDC

09 January 2020

SDC welcomes John Renner Hansen as new board member from 2020. He has been Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Copenhagen since 2012, and recently, he took up a post as Special Advisor to the Rector at the university.

John Renner Hansen is not unfamiliar with China, and south-east Asia, as he has visited universities in many of the countries in his career in order to pave the way for collaboration within research and education. It is essential for him that the Danish universities create the best conditions for cross-border collaboration.

“From a global perspective China is an incredible development area, and University of Copenhagen - and Denmark – has to be active and well-informed about the development. SDC opens good possibilities for this, so obviously I could not refuse the offer to join the board”, says John Renner Hansen.

Unleash the full potential

Together with colleagues from the Management Team at the Faculty of Science, he visited SDC in the autumn of 2019 to get a first-hand impression of SDC.

“I spoke with researchers and students, and SDC is a great home ground for them. We have to unleash the full potential of this to the benefit of researchers, students and companies, and I am looking forward to contributing to this task,” says John Renner Hansen.

John Renner Hansen replaces Professor emeritus Nils Overgaard Andersen and he will attend his first board meeting on 3 April 2020.
