Celebrating the 2025 graduates

01 July 2025

Students, families, teachers, the Ambassador of Denmark to China, representatives from the Danish universities and many more. They all joined the graduation ceremony at SDC, when the 2025 graduates were celebrated.

Teacher and associate professor Lu Tao, from School of Economics and Management, UCAS, described SDC as far more than an academic institution. In his speech to the graduating students, he said:

“Here, I have deeply experienced the sparks ignited by the meeting of Eastern and Western minds. The diligence, pragmatism, and collective spirit of our Chinese students complement and synergize with the critical thinking and independent exploration embodied by our Danish students.”

He emphasized how mentoring SDC students requires the ability to understand and integrate different educational backgrounds, learning styles, and research approaches:

“You have not only mastered your disciplines but also honed your ability to communicate, collaborate, and solve problems in a diverse environment.”

Not always a walk in the park

Sandra Mathis, who graduated from the Public Management and Social Development programme, shared her experiences as an international student at SDC:

“But let's be honest, studying at SDC was not always a walk in the park. We had our fair share of challenges, from language barriers to cultural differences and yes, even emoji confusion… But instead of letting these obstacles bring us down, we used them as steppingstones to learn and grow,” Sandra Mathis said.

Do the right thing

Associate Professor Jesper Zeuthen from Aalborg University, who teaches in the same programme, also spoke at the ceremony:

“We rest assured that all of you have not only gained much knowledge while studying at the SDC; you have also learned to work together and ensure that you can contribute to solve real problems in global cooperation. A skill which the world is currently in heavy demand of. “

He also wished for the graduates that their stay at SDC had not only made them academically more skilled, but that it has also contributed to enhance their work-life balance and make them focus on doing the right things rather than doing all things right.

Soon, the graduates will head out into the world, and companies and universities across the world will benefit from their unique skillsets, experiences and perspectives. Congratulations to all of you!

"Now we are finally standing here in these caps and gowns and are about to earn not one, but two Master's degrees. We did it! I will repeat that: WE DID IT!", said Sandra Mathis.

This year's graduates!
