Chinese visit helps to shape the future collaboration
How can we intensify the collaboration between Denmark and China?
This was the recurring theme when Professor Zhao Hong, Dean of SDC, recently visited Denmark. On the agenda was a visit to Roskilde University, Copenhagen Business School and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Denmark.
An obvious bridge builder
“Zhao Hong is an obvious bridge builder due to her long time knowledge of Denmark and especially Danish researchers and research institutions”, says Associate Professor Shahamak Rezaei from Roskilde University.
At Roskilde University, the Dean of SDC, Professor Zhao Hong attended a Sino-Danish Research Seminar where senior reseachers, early stage researchers and PhD-students discussed various research topics during a “one-week long” seminar. Prof. Zhao Hong also got a chance to meet up with her Danish counterpart Principal Coordinator, Associate Professor Stine Haakonsson from Copenhagen Business School.
Move the collaboration forward
According to Shahamak Rezaei it is important to act together collectively in order to move the collaboration forward and lift it up to achieve the potential that the collaboration contains. A group of Danish and Chinese researchers therefore took part in a meeting at the Chinese Embassy in Copenhagen and met among others Head of Education Section Counsellor Mr. Deng Liming, the Counsellor of Science, Technology and Innovation Mr. Peng Sizhen and the Scientific Affairs Counsellor Mr. Li Yan.
“Some interesting ideas came up during the meeting at the Embassy, and in the pipeline could be joint seminars or workshops as well as joing 'Executive Program' activities aiming to involve more Danish and Chinese researchers and students in Denmark”, says Shahamak Rezaei.
The group of researchers were subsequently invited to meet the newly appointed Ambassador Mr. Feng Tie.
When Dean Prof. Zhao Hong visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Denmark she was accompanied by Professor Yu Jiang from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Associate Professors Shahamak Rezaei, Kristian J. Sund and Johannes K. Dreyer. They had a meeting with the Head of Education Section Counsellor Mr. Deng Liming, the Counsellor of Science, Technology and Innovation Mr. Peng Sizhen and the Scientific Affairs Counsellor Mr. Li Yan.
At the seminar at Roskilde University Prof. Zhao Hong met with PhD students who presented their research projects and latest research progress.
In her capacity as the Principial Coordinator for the Social Sciences research area Dean Prof. Zhao Hong also went to Copenhagen Business School where a meeting with a group of researchers within the research area was on the agenda: Professor Ari Kokko, Professor Edward Ashbee, Head of Department Jens Gammelgaard, Professor Kjeld Erik Brødsgaard, Postdoc Nis Høyrup Christensen, Assistant Professor Li Xin and Ph.D. student Kasper Ingeman Beck.
